Does anyone know any Ballet classes for 18 and up?
Question by Icelandic Nichole: Does anyone know any Ballet classes for 18 and up?
I am 18 years old and i really want to do a ballet class but have no experience. Does anyone know a place where they teach ballet classes for 18 and up.
Answer by Lianna_lady
Are you near a big city? Giving us some idea where you are will help, because without that people can only give very general advice.
I’d start by calling all the local ballet schools and ask if they know of any adult programs. The dance world is pretty small, so even though the teachers you call only work with children, they’ll know what other teachers are nearby and can maybe recommend someone. If there are no classes, you might be able to arrange for private lessons, though those will probably be more expensive.
Also, if you’re applying to colleges, you can consider which ones have dance programs or extracurricular dance classes. Community centers or community colleges are also possibilities.

White t-shirt, Black tights, dance belt, white socks and black or white ballet slippers. Pretty standard everywhere for a ballet academy. Pretty much like this http://joffrey.com/blog_photos/2007-summer-intensive/7-28-07-performance/men_0301.jpg

I’m not in the Los Angeles area, so I can’t give you a definitive answer.
First, if you have not already done this, I suggest you telephone or go to your local public library and ask a reference librarian help you find information on reasonably priced ballet classes in your area.
For example, in my area, the local YMCA offers basic ballet classes, at reasonable fees for both members and non-members. This is the link to the Los Angeles area YMCAs home page:

Also, in my area, there are county sponsored or local city sponsored recreation classes for teens, including ballet, at reasonable prices. Perhaps at the local public library they have a copy of a recent schedule of area recreational programs.

Is it possible to do private ballet classes?
Question by Madison Grace: Is it possible to do private ballet classes?
I’ve been taking classes and doing many mid- year and end of year concerts with my dance school for a while. I am wanting to move schools now and just take up private ballet classes with someone one on one. Is it possible to do so? Even doing pointe work with them?
All just for training and fitness

What should i do to prepare myself for Ballet classes this fall?
Question by ♥ Cute T ♥: What should i do to prepare myself for Ballet classes this fall?
I’ve done Tap for a long, but they mostly worked on ankle exercises. I am pretty stretchy. I’m going to start stretching at least once a day and work on the 5 positions. I can put my weight on my fingertips on the floor while keeping my back and legs straight (inflexibility runs in the family.. except for my dad, lol) and I’ve been reading about doing the splits, but is there anything else I should know?
How do i get my positions perfect? I want my positions to be more than “decent” by the time class starts up on Sept. 18th. I kinda have a “you gotta clean your house before the maid gets here” attitude, but I want to be as good as i can and excel quickly! I know the teachers will help with with all that, but I can only take classes once a week and I REALLY want to get far in this before too long.
Also.. what do you wear to Ballet classes? What kind of pointers did you teacher give you about.. anything when you first started taking Ballet/Pointe?
I am 15 years old. and have NEVER taken Ballet or anything similar to it before, lol.
All help will be MUCH appreciated! ![]()
I’m really kind of desperate here, lol. I’m hungry for all knowledge on this!

I’m 14 and did a bit ballet when I was 10, but I’m going to start again at September.
I feel the same way, and stretch every day.
