Question by a-redheaded-whovian(dot)tumblr(dot)com: How should I prepare for my first ever ballet class?
I’m going to be starting a ballet class in the fall, and I know that’s a long time from now, but that’s sort of the point. I’m fifteen and have never danced before, but I figure skated until I was at freestyle 1 level and had to stop. I’ve never been very flexible, but I consider myself to be in shape.
Is there any stretches or exercises I can do and attempt to perfect over the spring and summer? Just so when my evaluation comes ’round, I can be at least a little prepared.
(I do Yoga regularly aswell, so, if there are any sequences or poses that would be helpful in my case, that would be wonderful information.)
Question by Lilly4u: What should a beginning ballet dancer learn first?

The kids are dancing polka which seems to be really difficult for them. They’ll perform this dance when they have audition next spring.

Question by : What should I expect in my first ballet class?
I’m 14 (almost 15) and I’m starting ballet today! I’ve never taken any form of dance before but I LOVE ballet and I’m reasonably flexible. I can do my right splits and almost my left one and can touch my hands to the floor when I bend over. I don’t have a uniform yet but I’m trying out this class.
The class is an open ballet class but the description said you should have some dance experience. My mom called the building and they said that it would be fine. I’m scared I won’t be able to pick up on it very quickly! :/
What kind of things do you think will they make us do? What should I wear? (I have a black bra, black tanktop, and black leggings, should I wear that and go barefoot?)
I know what the proper attire is, I just haven’t bought it yet. I was informed I was joining this class twenty minutes ago.
