Question by Angie: What are some exercises I could do at home to prepare for ballet classes in the summer?
Alright, so I’ve been thinking about re-taking ballet (I took ballet for one year when I was 8) at age 13. I’ve contacted the dance school in my area where I plan on taking classes from, but they’re only taking new students in the summer, because the end-of-the school year dance recital is coming up soon. The school I called said to call back in April or May to register for ballet classes, so I’ve still got about 3 or more months to go before I’m able to actually go to any classes.
While I wait, what are some things I could do at home to prepare for ballet? I know there’s stuff like practice the feet and hand positions, work in balance, flexibility, and overall strength, and also feet turnout. Any tips on how to work on these areas?
Question by quietdancer: Home Ballet Class?
I do ballet for 1 and a 1/2 hours a week, however, I do about 5 hours of dance a week. How can I give myself a “ballet class” and make sure I’m doing the exercises enough and right? Go through what you think I should do first, second, third, etc….
EX: “stretching, 30 releves, 15 passes, practice pirouettes…” u know stuff like that
I cant take more classes, so I want to do my own class. i’m not teaching myself anything (I already have done ballet), I just want to get more flexible and stronger.

Shandon Area of Cork City
Shandon is the area north of the River Lee, right in the center of Cork and well worth a trip across the North Channel by way of the Christy Ring Bridge.

Earlier in the day, Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission staff tallied mail-in ballets made by Wisconsin home care workers voting whether or not to join SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin. The movement passed, 1249 yes to 705 no votes.
